Revoke the unjust Community Protection Notice power

We worked with a member of the public to create a UK Parliament petition, calling for Community Protection Notices (CPNs) to be scrapped.

Community Protection Notices are on-the-spot legal orders that can be issued by a single council officer, and place significant restrictions upon an individual’s liberties and actions.

Petition author Malcolm Thompson has personal experience of just how unjust CPNs can be, as he writes in the petition:

The low threshold for CPN issue is unreasonable and unjust. Recipients are not told of the evidence against them or asked for their side of the case. The process is stacked against the defendant who is presumed guilty at the outset. Authorities do not require sound evidence before issuing a CPN.

Please do sign the petition, and share as widely as possible!
